Prison Ministry

Hebrews 13:3 “Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.”  The Prison Ministry serves the Body of Christ and its members by answering Christ’s mandate to go and make disciples, seek, and save those which are lost.
The purpose of the Prison Ministry is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ, nurture new believers in faith and discipleship, touch lives with Christian love, so that men and women become new creations in Christ and not repeat offenders.
We are at work going outside the church walls, inside the jails, reaching men and women of all ages, sharing the unconditional love of God, presenting the Gospel of Jesus Christ in a manner that the detainees will embrace and receive Christ as their Savior.
The Prison Ministry teaches spiritual lessons and through the power of the Holy Spirit, the detainees experience the life changing power of God that releases them from guilt, shame, negative emotions and addictions.
As the ministry continues to carry out the Great Commission by evangelizing, empowering, and equipping the incarcerated population souls are saved, lives are changed, and families are rebuilt.
Members on the Prison Ministry are growing as followers of Christ and are learning to serve others by being the hands and feet of Jesus and by demonstrating the Love of Christ. The Prison Ministry offers unique, vital opportunities for spiritual growth.  Members are prepared to minister more effectively through training and hands on experience.
The ministry is expanding Calvary’s membership as several former detainees visit and join the Body of Christ at Calvary.  As a result of ministering to the incarcerated population, members have gained a greater appreciation and compassion for those outside the walls of Calvary and a closer relationship with the Lord as they study in preparation for worship service and engage in bible study.
